چکیده

Editor’s key points † Umbilical hernia repair in children is associated with considerable postoperative discomfort. † Rectus sheath blocks (RSBs) and local anaesthetic infiltration of the surgical site (LAI) are used for providing postoperative analgesia for umbilical hernia repair. † Ultrasound-guided RSB provides superior analgesia in the perioperative period compared with LAI for umbilical hernia repair in children. Background. Umbilical hernia repair, a common day-surgery procedure in children, is associated with considerable postoperative discomfort. Possible modes of postoperative analgesia for umbilical hernia repair are rectus sheath block (RSB) and local anaesthetic infiltration of the surgical site (LAI).

Ultrasound-guided rectus sheath block, caudal analgesia, or surgical site infiltration for pediatric umbilical herniorrhaphy: a prospective, double-blinded, randomized comparison of three regional anesthetic techniques

Background Umbilical hernia repair is a common pediatric surgical procedure. While opioid analgesics are a feasible option and have long been a mainstay in the pharmacological intervention for pain, the effort to improve care and limit opioid-related adverse effects has led to the use of alternative techniques, including regional anesthesia. The current study prospectively compares the analgesi...

Ultrasonography-guided bilateral rectus sheath block vs local anesthetic infiltration after pediatric umbilical hernia repair: a prospective randomized clinical trial.

IMPORTANCE Regional anesthetic techniques can be used to alleviate postoperative pain in children undergoing pediatric surgical procedures. Use of ultrasonographic guidance for bilateral rectus sheath block (BRSB) has been shown to improve immediate pain scores and reduce use of postoperative analgesia in the postanesthesia care unit (PACU). OBJECTIVE To compare efficacy of ultrasonography-gu...

Ultrasound-guided rectus sheath block in children with umbilical hernia: Case series

BACKGROUND Umbilical hernia repair, a common day-case surgery procedure in children, is associated with a significant postoperative pain. The most popular peripheral nerve blocks used in umbilical hernia repair are rectus sheath infiltration and caudal block. The rectus sheath block may offer improved pain relief following umbilical hernia repair with no undesired effects such as lower limb mot...

Ultrasonography for ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve blocks in children.

BACKGROUND The ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve block is a popular regional anaesthetic technique for children undergoing inguinal surgery. The success rate is only 70-80% and complications may occur. A prospective randomized double-blinded study was designed to compare the use of ultrasonography with the conventional ilioinguinal/iliohypogastric nerve block technique. METHODS One hundred c...

REGIONAL ANAESTHESIA Comparison between ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane and conventional ilioinguinal/ iliohypogastric nerve blocks for day-case open inguinal hernia repair

Editor’s key points † This randomized, singleblinded study compared two differents local anaesthetic blocks for hernia repair. † Patients received either USguided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block or blinded ilioinguinal/ iliohypogastric nerve (IHN) blocks. † Ultrasound-guided TAP block produces less pain until 24 h with an opioidsparing effect without differences at 3 and 6 months after ...
